Reflection helps students learn how to learn

Researchers reviewed 59 studies involving more than 11,000 students. They looked at whether metacognitive instruction helped students improve performance. Metacognition means thinking about your own thinking. The review found that these interventions improved performance in most of the studies analyzed. This supports the idea that students can learn better when they pause, reflect, and adjust how they learn.
